Hi Folks,
After getting the kde desktop to work as root, I proceeded to add a user. The first time I did that, the command appeared to work ok. Howerver, when I logged on with my new new user name, the desktop was a little strange. The icons appeared correctly, but little white squares appeared underneath them
instead of print.
I then proceeded to trash two installations in attempt to fix the problem. I tried comparing various config files in 2.0 with those on my remaining 1.3 partition. So far I haven't had any succcess. All of the programs malfinction to. Instead of print, I get those little squares.
Anybody got any ideas?
Peace,
John

Hi John,
I'll have a look as soon as I get back from vacation. I guess the squares are from some appearance option. You said the programmes malfunction - what problems did you have so far? |

The programes are basically giving me those those little squares instead of printed messages.
I will try looking at some appearence options.
Peace,

| The Squares-problem seems to be some kind of font problem only in user mode (not root). I guess I have messed up some permission and all programmes can't get their font - really unpleasent. It will take time to find where the problem is. |

| I think I've solved it while I was doing some packages about X. In testing phase I'll be sure if I've corrected the problem. |
